WHY WASNT I THERE!!!!?
-
The concert at Monterey Pop was one of the first The Who did in America, and was meant for them to give a good first impression on American audiences.
... Yeah, "nailing it" doesn't even begin to describe what they did.

Nirvana were the closest to get in that direction...but it was never that extreme... it all can end in injuries sometimes... the who were quite originals specially since mid 66 and the begining of the psychedelic influences in some songs of their 2nd album... they were flower powerpunks for a few years...
I don't think the police officers out there at Monterey really appreciated their last song... (song?:-)

Pete Townshend doesn't give a fuck about his guitars...only the music. My idol...

Amazing. This is the band that created rock music. This is total belief in what they were doing at the time, the equipment was hired for this gig and no-one expected this was coming. Love the road-crew running around the stage attempting to salvage equipment before it gets trashed and the guy grabbing the mic off Daltrey! Long live the Who, the greatest rock n' roll band in the world.
