  • As for the usefulness, you would have to study the sound radiation of this device in air, especially with respect to frequency. It appears to require no cabinet. I'd like to hear more about this!

  • It is interesting, but wrongly explained. If the speaker cones are moving oppositely as you claim, no sound will be produced due to phase cancellation in the air. However, as you have drawn it in this picture, the cones will actually move in the same direction upon a change in collector current, which will produce twice the change in air pressure as one speaker alone, and thus more sound output. Note that both of the red connection points are facing the positive supply rail.
