Renaissance before Annie Haslam!
Back on again... in a better quality!... Enjoy! ;-)

Most of you are probably more familiar with the Renaissance group featuring Annie Haslam as main vocalist instead of the original line-up featuring Keith Relf and Jane Relf as front singers...

In between this transitional stage however, Renaissance had seen a succession of personnel and changes in style over a year or so!..

The line-up shown here, only knew a short existence from November till December 1970.
It consisted of:
Terry Crowe ( backing vocals)
Binky Cullom (lead vocals)
Mike Dunford (guitar)
John Tout (keyboards)
Terry Slade (drums)
Neil Korner (bass guitar)

NB: Here the band is performing an old English Trad song which was not part of the original line-up repertoire!... ;-)

  • Reminds me more of Fairport Convention than Renaissance. Not that that's a bad thing!

  • @trfesok I wouldn't agree more! ;-)

  • My Old man....Terry Slade on drums.....and my mum Binky Slade (then cullum) on vocals......brilliant

  • @MrTylerSlade Is your mum real name: Anne-Marie by any chance? ;-)

  • @JimMcCartyandCo It is indeed!

  • @MrTylerSlade Is she of European origin? French, Belgian or Swiss by any chance? ;-)

  • This line up sound better than the following line up and, dare I say it,more exciting than the preceding one.I wonder why they dissolved.

  • cool version..really got guts

  • Man, these were the dayz!~...before, punk, before prog rock, before big - hair music, before "metal".......I read somewhere that the musicians actually played their instruments!!...fancy that!

  • @SokobanJr ...I was born in 60and I was very crazieeeeeeee...huhuuuuuuu !....maybe i´m yet! ahahahahaa....

  • woman -

    super super super crazieeeeee

  • Man... I wish I was born in the 60's~70's.

    I love this atmosphere!

  • This stuff is excellent! A true treasure! I've been a fan of the Haslam lineup most of my life. I've heard the early stuff, but after seeing it played live here...I don't know. I might have to change my mind on what is my favorite Renaissance era is.

  • Pretty neat stuff - a real rocking 'jam' session! Tout's keyboards are about the only thing that sounds vaguely familiar as 'Renaissance'. Kind of makes you wonder why Dunford de-emphasized electric guitar and stuck to rhythm and background arpeggiated parts in the upcoming group. He plays some great riffs here. It's probably a long story, but it would be interesting to know why this incarnation of the band didn't last...
