The roborat is a 'cyborg' rat, guided by remote control via electrodes implanted in its brain. The electrodes are implanted in the left and right whisker sensory areas of the brain for directional guidance, and electrodes are implanted in the MFB area to reward the rat(gives the rat a euphoric sensation). The roborat was created at the Chapin Lab at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

  • I want one

  • @Fromzon no one Deserves it! Deserve what, to exploit the whole world and all the living things on it to fund your short, insignificant 70 years? arrogant monkey.

  • i'm not such a coward that i need to torture other beings to save my own skin...what am i worth then? IF it would even save anything....most of the things to keep us safe, or save us, don't work..

and what they want this rat for is completely unnecessary.. our technology is sufficient enough.

  • I just get the feeling that there is something wrong with this...

  • i totally support military use of cyborgs of any kind.

screw your ethics, i want human brain cells on chips. you know thy can do it, why won't they :(

  • i dont understand the point of this. i just feel sorry for the rat.

  • Yes it is a fully alive rat with a mind of it's own. Rats have a pleasure center in the brain that they put part of the implant into. Rats will do ANYTHING to have this stimulated, they find rats will cross electric grids to have the pleasure center stimulated that starving rats wouldn't cross for food. The rat works to have the pleasure spot stimulated, much like a dog does tricks for treats

  • is it still alive?

  • Earlier this week I discovered Roborat and I was shocked. Robomonkey is probably being worked on right now.

  • great pet toy! How much is it?
