According to the fifth national census in 2000, 18 ethnic minorities have a population of over one million, namely the Zhuang, Manchu, Hui, Miao, Uygur, Yi, Tujia, Mongolian, Tibetan, Bouyei, Dong, Yao, Korean, Bai, Hani, Li, Kazak and Dai. There are 17 ethnic groups with a population of between 100,000 and one million, namely the She, Lisu, Gelao, Lahu, Dongxiang, Va, Sui, Naxi, Qiang, Tu, Xibe, Mulam, Kirgiz, Daur, Jingpo, Salar and Maonan. There are 20 ethnic groups with a population of between 10,000 and 100,000, namely, Blang, Tajik, Primi, Achang, Nu, Ewenki, Gin, Jino, Deang, Ozbek, Russian, Uygur, Bonan, Monba, Oroqen, Derung, Tatar, Hezhen, Gaoshan (excluding the Gaoshan ethnic group in Taiwan) and Lhoba.
Every ethnic groups have the same right in China. It is great that we have a family with 56 ethnic groups. The policy in China is great. Minorities have a good life. Compared with the other countries, it is best in China. Here you can get some information about different ethnic groups in China.

Mongol Yuan included many ethnics and legalized immigrates from Central Asia now the Huis and Uighurs.

Manchus Qing considered themselves Chinese when confronting the Western white foreign devils.

Han as an ethnic is not pure in bloodline , Han actually incorparates many other ethnics disappeared in Chinese history like the Sinbai, Klitan, the 5 wu's etc. Han is only an ethnic by cultural defination.

@jivi20029 They don't torture people in Scotland, Quebec, New Mexico, so you can not compare China with these areas. The Chinese government is torturing and killing minorities. These areas need to be independent for their safety.

@alpieman here is one interesting fact for you, in Mao's China, it's the real communist rule, you cant have private businesses. but in modern PRC, we are allowed to start private businesses.

you cant judge a book by it's cover, same with PRC, you can't listen to what the media say and assuming that is what PRC is like. try spending a vacation in PRC, then judge it.

it's not the government fault, it's the citizen's fault, there are many bad mannered civillans in China, they have no patience, no sense of humor, you talk to them, you get into a fight. But even if i said this, you would still think that it has something to do with the government, right? well, you are wrong. Some civilians are just mean and nasty bitches to be blunt, they are no better then dogs.
