"After two failed relationships in which I felt I'd not been good enough to hold things together, I was a mess inside. Outwardly I behaved like I was ready to move on but inside, I still blamed myself for what I perceived to be my failings and every time I started to get close to someone, I'd get scared, become convinced I was too emotionally unreliable for them to invest themselves in, and run away. I wrote this song as a very specific instruction to those who would be interested in me - to stay away, to leave me be."
