Interrupting my BoF3 challenge series to record its biggest leap video in the end of the challenge (though it can theoretically be done as soon as you first cross Mt Zublo in the first half of the game).
This video shows the biggest amount of levels a character can gain *without the use of Ivory Dice* (read below for explanation on this).
The enemy party that gives the most experience is a team of 2 Lava Men and 1 Vulcan. A Vulcan normally gives 180 experience points but attacking him with a fire spell once will boost it to 900. Using a fire spell again won't change that number. However, in the case of Lava Men, casting fire-elemental magic on it will increase the experience it gives (as well as all its active stats, excluding HP and AP) by 60%. Unlike the Vulcan enemies, this stacks and reaches the limit at 65535. This is the limit for experience that one single enemy can give in this game, but not the whole party. Meaning two Lava Men will give twice as much experience.
The perfect character to gain those levels is Peco. He starts at lv. 1 when you first get him and he levels up the fastest among the characters in this game. At the start of the battle, he should use Monopolize. This will mean that when the battle ends (assuming Peco is alive which he will be), Peco will gain all the experience and the other survivors won't share it. The battle takes way too long for it to be recorded and still have a nice, watchable video so I only show the ending of it (but be aware that I kill two Lava Men and not just one).
If you don't understand how Lava Men works, see this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YqHq4NFA8g
or this one, there's plenty
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-UpDzZ6VVs
Using this method, Peco will gain THIRTY SEVEN (!) levels, levelling from lv. 1 to lv. 38!
Now, about the Ivory Dice note I made earlier... Ivory Dice is a rare item that, when used on an enemy, will double the experience it will give after the battle ends. These items appear to stack indefinitely until you reach the aforementioned limit per enemy.
This technically means that with 99 of this item, the biggest possible level leap will be in a battle with the maximum number of enemies, on each of which you use Ivory Dice and keep going until the limit is reached for each enemy.
In that event, since 8 is the maximum number of enemies you may see on the battlefield at once in this game,
8x 65535 = 524280 experience points
This amount of experience would raise Peco from lv. 1 to lv. 50!
But I doubt anybody out there would be crazy enough to look for that elusive party of eight enemies, let alone feed insane amounts of Ivory Dice to them, so it seems to me that the level leap shown in this video is the natural one and the one that needs to be shown.
And just check out those crazy stat gains he gets if you apprentice him to master Fahl (intensifies his already monstrous boost in HP and defence even further).
It's possible to increase the exp for 15 times, and against 3 lava men, you can get 65635 x3

@shikamaruxb3
An enemy party of 3 Lava Men is non-existent.

@MoogleBoss Yeah you are right, but there's a party of 2 lava men and a Vulcan

@shikamaruxb3
That's the one I took down here (only recorded the end of it since it took quite a long time, though).
