Trying again to relax and just play without regard to who may be watching, which I think turned out better.. This is my Squire Hot Rails Stratocaster, which I cherish. Right now, I would say it's Fender's best kept secret for a extremely expressive guitar. I read reviews, which some say "YEAH", and some say, "It's ok". But I say, it is an awesome design and well crafted. It reminds me of my mustang with the benefits of an extra couple frets. The hot rails on this are supposedly HOTTER than over the counter versions, and I think it probably is, as it distorts even when playing clean if turned up all the way. I have to turn it down to 2, to get that single coil sound, which is totally clean, (of coarse as are humbuckers). So you can have a lot of control with just the volume knob to express yourself in many ways. If the economy wasn't so down with the flu right now, I'd buy another one for a different tuning, since you probably know the tuning woes of tremolo systems, if you are watching this while contemplating getting one. I think, you should have gotten it, YESTERDAY..

  • what effects are You using here, sir?

  • @metalbonicks

I am not a sir, but assuming you are referring to myself by obvious deduction of modern slang, In this video I used amp simulation, a rotovibe, reverb, delay, tube distortion, through a PC using software = "Amplitube" -created by IK Multimedia. I customized the settings using Hendrix simulated virtual equipment.

  • 1:32 - Now I have played guitar for nearly six years, and still haven't figured out how to do that... What the hell are you doing with your fingers there??

  • @Alkali64

It is my middle finger brushing the strings. The inside of my middle finger (next to pointer finger) is lightly brushing the strings in a percussive motion.

Just flick your finger lightly so the the flesh of your finger is strumming the string. With compression it will normalize the volume (bring the volume up) and when / if you go back to picking (finger or otherwise) the volume will be kept at a relative volume. If you do it without a compressor, it will be too soft to compliment.

  • Continued...

However with practice, and control of the percussion of your picking / strumming, you can pull it off on an acoustic or any stringed instrument, with applied dynamic control.. Again, =from practice.

It's not hard. It's really easy actually. I sometimes feel silly doing it.

  • yeah it was a compliment. I'm quite a fan of your playing. Nice.

  • @Pandamonia

Thanks. I have enjoyed a song or two of yours as well.

I play for myself and anyone who would enjoy it..

    Not a professional. I don't make / haven't made money at it.

I have lost a lot more then I ever gained from making music..

    Thanks for the compliment.

There is no way I could rob or exceed Jimi. He opened the door. Everyone else just walked in. :D

  • @DirkStrauss

I got one, where I stand next to a wall, and hold my leg out, with my arms to my side.

I do one, where I make electronic noises but my face contorts crazy.

Air guitar too. You know, the usual.

    But aside from poor impressions,

I really enjoy the guitar. It makes me smile. These days, that is a treasure of it's own. If I was a wealthy man, I would modify the hardware to top quality, install a solid tremolo and do weird things to it.

    Peace.

    (Sorry for the poor humor).

  • You play guitar very well :)

  • I'll be honest, it's pretty damn nice with the sound off too. I like hands.

  • @FUNCLEJ0E Well that's a good one to practice, thanks a lot dude. Sounds really really good as well!

  • @Pandamonia

I'm ok with the milder toned name. Less flashy. Less fashion.

I'm a fun Uncle. It may be my greatest achievement in life.
