Amazing to think that as recently as the 90's they were still talking about optical switching and routing and not a packet based system. The internet was already well established at this time.
What's funny about all of these predictions is they never talk about better call quality other than "crackle free" calls. Even today, most telephone calls are limited to 3 KHz as they were in the 1950s!
Both videos part 1 and 2 about some aspects of optical networks are great.
I'm having a hard time searching for information about "Heterogeneous
Grooming Architectures" to analyze optical networks ... anyone? pls?
