7) 5.16.04 - Secy. of State Powell appears on NBC News' "Meet The Press" with the late Tim Russert, who closes by asking Powell about the enormous personal credibility Powell had placed before the UN in laying out a case against Saddam Hussein. One of Powell's aides interrupts Russert's question in an attempt to end the interview, before Powell decides to finish by answering that much of the info he had been given about WMDs in Iraq was inaccurate, wrong, and misleading. 5.21.04 - New photos showing mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners are released. 5.24.04 - The Associated Press confirms that US forces mistakenly bombed a wedding party, killing more than 40. 5.26.04 - The Attorney General warns of al-Qaida's "specific intention to hit the US hard" and that 90% of their arrangements for attack were complete, although the terror threat level was not raised and Ridge wasn't even present at the announcement.
8) 7.6.04 - Senator John Kerry, Presidential hopeful, selects John Edwards as his running mate. 7.8.04 - Ridge warns of MORE attacks from al-Qaida during the summer or fall. 7.12.04 - The Head of the US Election Assistance Commission writes to Ridge suggesting postponing the upcoming election in the event of terrorist attacks.
9) 7.29.04 - The Democrats nominate John Kerry as their Presidential candidate. 8.1.04 - Homeland Security raises the threat levels for financial centers in New York, New Jersey, and Washington to orange, due to data left in a home in Iraq (which later proved to be out of date by four years).
10) 10.6.05 - President Bush addresses the National Endowment for Democracy, emphasizing the war on terror and insisting that his administration has broken up at least 10 terorrist plots since 9/11. Several hours later, NYC officials disclose a bomb threat to the city's subway system based on info supplied by the federal government, which proves that NYC knew about the bomb threat at least 3 days in advance before going public. WNBC in New York reveals that they were asked to hold off on reporting the story by high-ranking government officials. Sources say that there never really was a bomb threat in the first place, and the person reporting the threat simply made it up.
11) August 2006 - Domestic surveillance without legal warrants is on the rise. 8.10.06 - British authorities arrest 24 suspects in an alleged imminent plot to blow up US-bound aircraft using liquid explosives smuggled on-board in sports drink bottles. Carry-on liquids are suddenly banned from all flights. 8.14.06 - British intelligence reveals that only the US thought that the plot was imminent, 11 of the 24 suspects are later released, and the carry-on liquids ban is soon lifted.
12) 5.7.07 - Greensburg, Kansas is leveled by a tornado, and the state's governor notes that the redeployment of the state's national guard and its equipment to Iraq may now cripple the soldiers' ability to respond in the event of another natural disaster. 5.8.07 - Arrests are made in a far-fetched plan to attack US soldiers at Fort Dix in New Jersey. Apparently, the terrorists would be disguised as pizza delivery men.
13) June 2007 - A plot to blow up the jet-fuel pipeline for JFK International Airport in NYC was revealed the day before the second Democratic Presidential Debate.

But they would never, EVER play politics with terror...
