Unless my high school science teacher was way wrong, you're not hyper-oxygenating your blood when you do that. The urge to breathe is signaled when you accumulate too much CO2 in your blood, not when you have too little oxygen. The reason you take a bunch of deep breaths and blow them out in preparation for breath-holding or extended vocalization is because that gets rid of a lot of CO2 in a small amount of time, delaying the "breathe or you will die" feeling.
