My mother nursed in this hospital and spent her last days there. In Oshawa they still have the same hospital, why the need for a big change? After all Peterborough has two and some places larger have one!

I was born in that Hospital! <3

Millions of dollars were poured into that hospital over the years to upgrade it. Then they go and tear it down. That's the solution to everything. Meanwhile in Europe, they still use buildings that are 200+ years old. Crazy.

Yeah, it is nice looking building and looks like it would have made a great public health care or building or nursing home for the needy. There are a BUNCH like this in the states and it makes you wonder whay someone didnt do something with them. Some of them are in nearly usable condition... and many of them you just know are haunted by old spirits

It was a great building including the tunnels underneath. I'm sure there are some lost souls there. I worked at pch and my parents died there as well. With all the updates to er etc. That could have been used as level 3&4 home care. Half of the hospital was used as that already. It was kind of a shock to see it go as I'm out west now.

Is this Peterborough Ontario?

looks like somewhere slenderman would hang out...
What a needless waste of an attractive building. Yes, they needed a newer, more spacious more modern hospital. Sad that the old one was just wasted. Too bad no one tried to find a new use for it. GOod architecture like that is hard to replace.

@MarkinDC Yes I agree with you, it was a waste. And the fact that Peterborough apparently doesn't have enough nursing homes and the nursing homes that are in use have huge waiting list...why not just turn that into a nursing home?? It's in a great location and a hospital right across the street. But, I guess it was cheaper to just tear it to the ground and turn it into a parking lot.

Everybody wonders about if there are any ghosts in a place like that.I just wonder how much copper pipe and other valuable stuff is in there.

@63gstone You would have loved the place that we went to in Uxbridge, Ontario then. Tons and tons of copper piping in that place as well as old brick.

Why did it close?

@Moonlightkitteh101 A bigger, newer hospital was built just in behind this one.
