I've been trying to get Ginger back in shape lately and i'm riding her more and more now. These clips were from me riding her today and yesterday. in the videos where i'm wearing a yellow top is from today, and as you can see, her headset is even better today than yesterday when I'm trotting on her. She started putting her head up when I trot her, but we're fixing that. Remember, this is the horse that is nervous and tense, and is stubborn and pushs against leg cues and usually tries to go her own way. Shes getting SO good with leg cues, i'm shocked. I can't now mostly hold the reins in place without having to move them. Huge progress for her. In this video you'd never guess shes a very nervous horse. She hasn't been spooking much lately which is good! if someone else were to ride her though shes really tense, she doesn't trust other people. i'm also trying to get use to her trot again because i've gotten use to the horse that i'm leasing, which shes a lot taller than my little ging. haha :]
I'm trusting Ginger right now more than I ever have, it just keeps getting better! I love her so much! i'm so thankful to have her and i'm so glad i never gave up on her.

  • oh ok! like my horse stops sometimes and when i like kick him to go it makes things worse so that takes patience. but like what ways did you go abouts to fix it? like using a crop? or what? sorry lol just curious for future thoughts lol!

  • @1XoitsmmoX nope I have never used a crop nor spurs on my horse.

She some times would stop as well (mostly when she was scared) but just use a lot of leg and instead of kicking try squeezing with both heels evenly, and if she doesn't go forward and backs up, than pull her around in a circle and than try getting her straightened up to walk forward, and if she stops again repeat that all over again, starting with squeezing.

let me know though if you've already tried this and it didn't work.

  • you look soo good! i love the tail xD and the mountains in the background are beautiful!

  • Yes i have done work like that and making them turn to the side ot throw him off balance so he moves forwarrd. gradually my rides get better and better and I have also been doing some ground work with him so hopefully that works and it eventually will all go away. it also may have something to do with the fact I am riding on a grass area that isnt completely level in my backyard. so maybe it will just eventually come!

  • @1XoitsmmoX It definately took a lot of work and patience. I've owned her for a little over two years. You just have to reinforce everything and keep trying and not let them get away with it. It took me awhile to be confident enough to not let her get away with stuff while I was riding her, because I thought she'd freak out so I use to let her get away with it, and she gets a little mad when I don't allow her to get away with it, but now shes not trying to pull stuff its getting much better.

  • @BreakOutBreakFree thanks:]

  • @Horsesdontlie thank you:]
