@redrosestoo I did! My husband loved it so much and he managed to make the pens work, he does some awesome drawings. Thank you for the info!

@fioreariadne Forgot to add that the pens need to be thin enough as well -- some pen nibs are too short or too wide. Aggravated my sisters and me no end -- when the original pens ran out of ink, we couldn't use it anymore. BUT at least we managed one or two years of use before that happened.
As this is coming to you now that Christmas is over, I hope you managed to find a Spirograph with the pens included. :)

@fioreariadne The pens yes, the paper I'm not sure.
Check and see if the dimensions (thickness, weight, gloss level) of the paper provided are indicated on the box or instructions. The nibs on the pens have to be long enough to contact the paper through the holes in the wheels. It's hard (or at least it used to be back in the days of my childhood!) to find other pens that would work when Spirograph's pens dried out. Now, I think you can contact the manufacturer for replacements.

@bagelboi66 I hear ya! I had a lot of trouble with it too. In my case though, the cardboard that came with it was so full of holes from the pins that inevitably my pen would snag a hole and the wheel would jump the ring. Aggravated me no end, but yet somehow I never managed to get a new piece of cardboard. Ahhh, the memories.... LOL

I remember using my friend's sister's easy bake oven to dry out ditch weed.....we would laugh when she made a cake in it afterwards since she had no idea what we used it for. It worked pretty well!

I'm planning on getting a super Spirograph for my husband this Christmas... do you really need the paper and pens that come with it to get it to work? The ones that I've seen in Ebay do not include paper nor pens... if anyone knows, I'll really appreciate the info... I can't find it anywhere!

All I did with those Spirographs was make an ugly mess. And I wanted one of those easy Bake Ovens too, but I never got one. I finally got one as an adult. but it was for my niece.

I had both Spirograph and Super Spirograph. I loved using both but it was never as easy as they make it look in the ad. Sooner or later when you were using one of the outside holes on one of the bigger wheels and going around the outside of the ring gear, you'd slip and ruin the piece. It was still a lot of fun though. Getting replacement paper was a challenge because what mom gave me after I ran out was not as nice as the smooth shiny stuff that came with it.
