The 2009 Bower Award and Prize for Achievement in Science is presented to Sandra Faber for extraordinary advances in our knowledge of the properties of distant galaxies, dark matter, large scale structure of the Universe, and black holes in galactic nuclei; and for innovative leadership in the development of astronomical facilities.

  • astro and partical physics are definatly becoming more appealing to the world.

    and it's nice to know that science is ready to start taking leaps and bounds to finding the truth to how, and where we came from and were we are going.

    it's a really uplifting feeling to know you are at the birth of the most interesting and possibly most important movement of the future world

  • I took a class from her in ~ 1992. Several years later there she was on NOVA I think. Didn't know I was learning undergrad astronomy from a legend at the time.
