  • @LordXsi 2. so bright looks this maiden, a motherless little child, a swallow with no wings." 3. What will be the wages for a daughter's toil, for the hard work of the maiden? They won't get a barn house, no barn house, no cattle will go to them, they'll be given a dry cow, bestowed a poor dowry chest - *this is the wages for daughters, for the hard work of the maiden.* The barn house will be give to the son, the cattle will be bestowed to the daughter-in-law. :repeat *__* as final 2 lines::
  • @LordXsi 1. Mother said thus when she was alive, taught me her words of wisdom: "My dear girl, sweet bird, my darling child, dear Anne, do not go out in dirty clothes, mingle with others without washing! Go to the hayfield looking good, go to the grain field washed and groomed, be quick at work in the grain field make yourself busy among the others! 2. The men will watch you from the forest, the boys keep an eye on you from the bushes, they think the moon is rising, the sun shining on them...
  • @LordXsi I'll post an English language translation as well later tonight. The Estonian used is somewhat archaic so probably any current language knowledge won't be a lot of help and Google Translate probably won't recognize it very well either.

Yes! Vägilased are the Best! Also check out this other posting of Ema õpetus where the words are somewhat clearer : > youtube.com/watch?v=bA48mIYC3PY

  • @saareman Thank you very much. I have only just begun learning Estonian and obviously cannot understand the lyrics by ear. the text is very helpful. and I also happen to really like Vägilased...so the text is even more invaluable. huge thanks again :)

  • @LordXsi and here is the 3rd verse and 2 lines that repeat to end the song. 3. Mis saa tütärite tööste, näiu vaivanägemisest? Ega neile aita ei anda, ait ei anda, kari ei kaldu, andas aher õhvakene, keerdäs kehvä kirstukene - too saa tütarite tööste, näiu vaivanägemisest. Aida andasse pojale, kari kaldus minijäle. Too saa tütarite tööste, näiu vaivanägemisest.
  • @LordXsi There seems to be a limit on characters, here are the first 2 verses: 1. Emä opas elleein, manits maale minneein: "Tütarlatsi, linnukene, armas latsi, Annekene, mingul mustalt muide sekkä, tõrvaskandu tõiste sekkä! mine sa ninni niidu pääle, mine nukku nurme pääle, ole iks nope nurme pääle, vali võõra välla pääle! 2. Mihekõse mõtsast kaesse, poisi vahtva varikusta, mõtles kuu tõsevata, päivä pääle paistevata - seo paistus tütarlatsi, ilma emätä kanake, ilma päätä pääsukene."
  • Can somebody please post lyrics for this?

    thank you :)
