that is so bad ass. Robots with speech algorithms are amazing. They actually evaluate what they hear and determine from there the best way to answer or respond. truly an amazing technology, This was the most fluent one I've seen so far.

What you're saying is like saying that when programming a game, you have to program in every possible step and every possible action. That's not how it works.

It's definitely human operated- I saw Quasi in action at CMU:ETC (the place it was built). It has a simple graphical interface on a palm pilot, with controls for expressions, looking around, basic arm movements, and some preprogrammed actions, like dancing. The voice is the puppeteer's, sent through a nice robotic-sounding filter.
