@Swinging: you need to make it down to Detroit sometime and let us show you how it's done in the "D", because clearly you don't know.
@ the couple in the video: Great job...it's wonderful seeing Detroit Style Ballroom venturing out! I'll have to come to Cleveland to dance sometime and check you all out. Where's a good place to come and ballroom?
I was searching for video examples of "Urban" / "Contemporary" Ballroom dancing in order to back up my contention that this dancing is NOT ballroom. The couple in this clip has clearly incorporated movements from Rumba, Samba and Tango (all ballroom dances). If this is what most "Urban" Ballroom dancers are doing today, then I'll have to re-think my assumptions. In the meantime, congratulations to this couple. A very fine performance with good incorporation of real "Ballroom" dance styles.

In the widest sense of the term, it is "ballroom
dancing". In the popular and historical sense of the term,
it's clearly something else. I'm all for couple dancing, whatever you want to call it. Do you know where "Detroit Ballroom"
comes from? Who created it? I've never been to
Vienna nor Buenos Aires, but I sure have a lot
of fun dancing Viennese Waltz and
Argentine Tango.

It is ballroom. It is called Detroit Ballroom. If you've never been to a Detroit club, you wouldn't understand!!!
