  • yes..thanx for ur enthusiastic replies..i still thing that move was WRONG !

  • Note that American embassy was attacked and captured by some other revolutionary groups a few times before the date we nowadays know as the hostage taking. The students used to think that they can go in to the embassy, stay there for a day or two and then leave the embassy; highlighting their requests from the US government about the Shah by doing so. It was the nationwide reactions that inevitably pushed the event to a complicated political dilemma

  • What I am trying to say is that it is difficult, if not impossible to judge that event. I think it was inevitable, so we cant say it was right or wrong. It is part of a nations history, like the revolution itself. Whom should be blamed for a revolution? The revolutionary students were planning to set the Americans free after a few days, but they couldnt! There was hatred and fear from the Americans all over the country; why was that? Where did it come from?

  • well those "revolutionary students" became the conservatives of today. i don't know what point ur making but all i was saying that it was wrong.

For the benefit of Iran..normal ppl u know..not the government -_-

  • Those who took Americans hostage were revolutionary students. Conservatives do not take the initiative in such drastic actions; nowadays fundamentalists in power have made a ritual out of it, not letting ppl speak about it or analyze it for the public. Those students who entered the embassy are now mostly reformists. Most of them look back at the history critically & try to make a rational explanation of what happened which I personally find reasonable and acceptable; sociologically speaking.

  • well apparently the ppl who took those American as hostages were conservatives and it was a wrong move...i believe that didn't do any good to Iran.

  • The reality is that it is much difficult to stay impartial in such a chaotic world where Americans are accused of and are responsible for much of the interference and violence going on in the world. It doesnt mean that local governments and forces are not responsible for what is happening; but understanding an event like hostage taking in 1979 is not as simple as a bad guy-good guy story

  • I am not a conservative and I was interviewed and a few seconds of that interview is shown here. I belong to a different generation than those who took American officers hostage in Tehran; but I think that was an understandable reaction. In Iran, a society is developing and the sociological processes can be observed and analyzed realistically and even sympathetically. (see below)

  • look the coment below...

  • I wonder why do they always interview the conservatives who don't regret the American embassy hostage taking -_-
