no offense, but that's a lot of words for an audio demo
-
dont forget hes also comparing an amp thats had probably thousands of hours on the parts inside vs a shiney new one.

oh damn. I want wonna dos baaad! They both sound pretty damn close too. Awesome shit

Like I always do, I wonder what the results would be in a blind test. Where people are not influenced by their own preconceived ideas. They sound great to me and very, very close.

but anyway, it sounds amazing :) wish I had an amp like this :(

@johnbeloe Right, one is rolling with NOS GEC and Mulalrs, and the other Chinese and New Sensors. This will make the biggest difference by far. of course I think Metro is pointing out that he sells his stock version with Chinese and New sensors, so unless you have another $1k for tubes, this is how it's going to sound in comparison. i think he should have made that logic clear.

@billville111 You should look at the guts of a Metro. If pride is incredible attention to detail, then he's got a lot of it. I know someone who worked at Marshall in the 60s who looked into his stuff and thought the work impeccable, down to OCD stuff like color coding the caps.
Besides, a mic, isn't going to make a big difference. We're talking about total compression onto Youtube here. Let's think about, it's not just a matter of recording, but squeezing it down digitally onto a server.

Metro is brighter, Original is warmer. Metro will be warmer too in 45 years

Replica sounds tight and New (as it would). Orig more relaxed and open sounding.
Oldies might not all sound the same but they all sound great if biased right.
Both great amps demo'd. BUT..... Not a good place to do a demo. Such a small room with 100w amps / 4 x 12s the Sound Pressure levels on that mic would be messin it up with the recorded tone. Needs a Bigger Ambient Room for a fair test.

@adam10603 The actual sounds were undoubtedly more different than the crappily recorded sounds, but we all have different ears and different degrees of experience and talent.
IM buying a limited edition block end 45/100. I don't care to compare. Not one of the old amps sounded the same, not even one. The old carbon comps, caps and tubes were so inconsistent in values back then, one resister would change more than meets the eye, thus, its not about getting a perfect match, as "That Tone" is in all of that era marshall JTM 45/100 amps, and These Metropoulos amps are perfectly fine to capture what you are seeking. A brand new actual Jimi Hendrix amp - well done george.

Original is more open and more high mids, less mud. But I love replica..I never thought guitars and amps should be compared at the same settings..2 old ones wouldn't sound the same.Tomi
