@twink1ebug The sushi packages will have the expiration/best before date and you judge by that or by how green the avocado if you come across a California Roll. If it smells nasty then just throw it away, it was for free so shouldn't be a problem to throw out actual rotting food. I admit I wouldn't trust cheese out of a rubbish bin.

I get the point about perfectly good consumables being thrown out and I'm all for the freegan opportunist approach to reducing waste. But... eating tuna and cheese and sushi from a rubbish bin makes me nervous. How could they be certain it hadn't been out of the fridge too long to be safe to eat? Did they watch the stuff come out of the store??

Actually, I've seen a fox up my way doing the same as that guy... hmmm. Wonder what he'd do if he came avross a live bunny rannit or chicnen?
