A time lapse of me putting together ONE HALF of an Ikea Sultan Laxeby slatted bed base. One side took 2 hours to assemble. The video was taken with an iMac using Gawker http://gawker.sourceforge.net/Information.html

  • wouldn't it be easier to put the slats in one side and then fitting the other to the base and the slats instead of first building the base and bending the slats in place?

i'm probably buying two so just trying to make my life easier :p

  • It only took me 90 minutes for both sides with no one else helping me. So not sure why it's taking others so much longer but don't be put off by how long it takes others. If you are good with building things, it should be simple. BTW, it's so much better than the standard wood slats. Definitely worth the money.

  • These beds break easily

  • Just did this, it took me about 5 hours. Completely insane! Everything else I got at Ikea took about 30 mins.

  • I can imagine this activity being a replacement for capital punishment. Imagine murderers what kind of Zen they would achieve after 30 years of this.

  • I literally just did this 10 minutes ago and it didn't take nearly that long. My dad and I just banged the whole thing out frame and slats in like 90 mins

  • pay double the amount for it to be assembled and youll complain about that, which is why its flat packed!

  • of course it takes time, but it's defenetly NOT difficult!

  • I went through the same thing last night. There is nothing like spending $200 on a base AND feeling like a cheated idiot trying to put it together for 4 hours. IKEA should find a way to put the estimated assembly time and difficulty on these things.

  • jeez!
