Old Aladdin model 23 burner vs Ehrich & Graetz Brenner Matador burner kerosene lamps vs Coleman 202 white gas pressure lantern. The Coleman was made in 1955, The Aladdin 23 the 1960's and the Ehrich & Graetz around 1895. I purchased them at garage sales and the Brenner Matador off ebay for fairly cheap, cleaned them up and tinkered with them and now they all work great. The oil lamps produce a surprising amount of light for what they are. They would easily light up a good size room and you could certainly read by them. They are good on fuel and would work great as backup lighting, camping or living off-grid.

  • Cool video!

Wow, the vintage Kosmos burner with the gallery lifter system! Never seen anything like this before! Btw. I've come here because i aim to buy an Aladdin 23 soon... ;)

It will be a brass model (24" high total) with the british style wihte shade...

I just fell in love with this lamp!!

  • @SH1974 the gallery lifters where quite common on European lamps sold into the 1940's. You could usually buy the burner with or without. I just picked up another Ehrich & Graetz Matador 20iii with the gallery lifter. It really makes lighting easier as you don't have to remove the chimney. The Aladdin 23 is a great, burner. The lox-on gallery is also quick release so you don't have to remove the chimney. Check ebay there are hundreds of them and you can get one for a good price.

  • Nice video and some beautiful lanters. I really like those Alladins. Is there a place you find them for a low price?

  • @plojka1 They still sell the model 23 at some hardware stores or specialty lamp stores. We garage sale and antique quite allot and see them all the time. Believe it or not ebay is a great place to find them for good prices. You should have no problem getting a nice Aladdin for under 50% retail, or less.

  • Hi, They are some beautiful old lamps you have there, the light from them is so bright, my fav is the oil lamp with the mantle, thanks for sharing.

  • @MrRockypro1 Yes the light from a good working kerosene lamp is brighter than most people think. You can certainly get by. We use them camping and staying at the cabin. The Aladdin mantle lamps are the brightest of all but mantles are expensive. The model 23 lamps/mantles are on ebay for fairly modest prices.

  • Hi, They are some beautiful oil lamps you have there, can't believe how bright they are, my favourite one is the oil lamp with the mantle, thanks for sharing.

  • @jangelo02 They are made by Den Hann in the Netherlands. The 20iii size Matadors is in their Trawler Lamp. You can purchase online from people that sell boating equipment like Redskyatnight. I purchased through a place in the UK, Base-camp.co.uk. They are much cheaper even with added shipping costs.
