@fuigotrobbed Now, now, Koscielny's doing okay. Better than Squillaci, anyway. Besides, there must've been a few people who, once upon a time, questioned Adams' right to wear the number of Willie Young, Joe Mercer and Wilf Copping.

@oracleg Yep, it was "uniform numbers" rather than "shirt number" or just "number"! Btw, I'd go right in the middle of "Arsenal is" and "the Arsenal are" - and say "Arsenal are". I've noticed that's a difference between UK and US sports reporting - talking of the singular team as though it's plural.

@saccerzd What gave it away, the NJ, me calling it "soccer," or saying "Arsenal is" rather than "The Arsenal are"? Doesn't matter, there's lots of Gooners here, and while there's not as many as there are ManUre and Chelski, we outnumber The Scum here by about 20 to 1. Hell, Newcastle fans outnumber Spurs fans here.

Arsenal don't retire uniform numbers, but I notice no current Gunner wears Number 6. I wonder if that's by design.

It's a shame that nr 6 isn't retired. Tony Adams is the greatest Arsenal-player ever, and deserves to get his number retired.
