237,5 million the people of Indonesia consists of 400 ethnicities and 583 local languages which are united in one principle, which is Pancasila, and have a national motto Bhinekka Tunggal Ika (means Unity in Diversity). It wants sustainable peace and co-existence, respecting in each other with others nations, and together strives to reach high, fair, and equitable standard of live.

Indonesian people are very heterogeneous and complex, consisting of different traditions, religions, and ethnic affiliations, who live in a country of thousands islands spread over thousands of miles of seas and across the equator.maintaining national unity within archipelagic state like Indonesia is a constant challenge for all Indonesians and their leaders and elected representatives

The name Indonesia has its roots in two Greek words: "Indos" meaning Indian and "Nesos" which means islands. The main islands are Sumatra (473,6O6 sq.km), Kalimantan (539,400 sq.km), Sulawesi (189,216 sq. km), Papua (421,981 sq. km), and Jawa (132,187 sq.km). Indonesia is divided into 33 provinces, special territories and classified geographically into four groups. First are the Greater Sundas, made up of the larger islands of Sumatra, Jawa, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Second are the Lesser Sundas, consisting of smaller islands from Bali eastward to NTT. Third is Maluku which includes all the islands between Papua and Sulawesi. The fourth and final group is Papua in the most eastern part of the country.
