GM workers are being asked to agree to more sweeping reductions in retiree benefits. Current workers will see no cost of living adjustments and no performance bonuses. Cynthia Bowers reports.
I see the need for unions. without them we would all be working for a nothing wage. However when as you put it they get 35$ an hour to tighten screws ans another 35$ an hour in benifits then it has gotten out of hand. 2500.00 a car is a huge amount when you put out 50,000 cars a year. the unions screwed the very people they were supposed to help. how many of them will be jobless now and not have a chance of getting that job back cause it's in china now. cut their own throats, idiots.
Wait, no4go, are you supporting unions by asking that question or disapproving of them? If you're supporting them, I think you answered your own question by asking that. If not, I agree completely.
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY 100% INCORRECT WITH YOUR THEORY. UNIONS HAVE GROWN TOO STRONG AND ULTIMATELY HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UNJUSTIFIED RATES UNION WORKERS ARE RECIEVING.
$80/hr TO TIGHTEN SCREWS WITHOUT A COLLEGE DEGREE? COME ON.....
You Fail !!! It started out with good intentions but its nothing what it was before. Nissan , Toyota , Honda all have turned down the UAW. Nissan was attacked and taken to court cuz a part-time employee told them(UAW), they were not Wanted at Nissan's Smyrna plant.
GM for example already had produced and sold thousands of fully working practical electric cars. Instead of funneling all their money on SUVs, Hummers and hydrogen fuel, GM could have focused on further improving battery life and overall performance of already-existing and fully functioning electric cars..there was a time when GM had the chance to dominate the market
omg what's with all these union hate? unions are one of the major reasons why there's a middle class in America. and no, unions did not destroy the car companies,it's car companies' greed and stubborn attitude

The line workers should be paid no more than a mcdonalds or walmart worker. Stop living in the past.

costs 2500.00 more to produce a car at a GM FORD or DODGE plant so how the hell are you supposed to compete?
