Note: Ian Anderson of Tull produced "Now We Are Six", from which this is taken! I have a feeling Ian may have been listening carefully to Span....

This brings back good memories. I saw Jethro Tull, I think in 1973,( I was crazy for this group), and one time Steeleye Span opened for them in San Antonio. they were great. Their music makes me proud of my roots!!
they were pioneers in fusing rock and folk, and did a great job of it, still popular today because of the value of their music and the value of the origins of it.

Awesome! Thanks for this :)

Love Steeleye Span. My dad used to listen to these guys when I was very young and I grew up listening to all their songs. I've yet to hear a female vocalist that, in my opinion can even come close to Maddy Prior. She was born to sing these songs.

@Shinydiscoballs69
you should have a listen to Sandy Denny, she sang with a band called Fairport convention with ashley hutchings from steeleye span, check out my playlists, i have a fairport convention album from 1969 on there. voted the best folk album of all time in 2007. enjoy

Actually Sanernando, Jethro Tull were releasing albums in the late 60's, long before Steeleye Span came into being. in fact steeleye didn't form until after ashley hitchings left Fairport convention after they released the album 'leige and leif'
