Here at Winding Road, we think there's a lot to like about the Mazda2.

"The Mazda2 fits like a glove! It feels great to drive that car after a longish break. It deals with the snow quite well, and tapping out snappy shifts is almost too much fun for such a humble vehicle. I like this one better every time I drive it." —JBS

Uhhh, that was a painful shift just before 60. Makes you wonder how fast it would've been if it could have just hit 60 in second.

hahah, I was thinking the exact same thing while filming. I didn't try it, but if you're all about the numbers, it looks like there's a few more hundred rpms left before redline, if you pushed it to the rev limiter in 2nd it'd probably get past 60 for a faster 0-60 time. -CA

On the other hand 60 is just an arbitrary number. The gear shift also seems hampered by a slight unwillingness to loose rpm, but they can't all be hysterical race engines. All in all it is a nice car.

I have brought my 2 to the rev limiter a few times, but I think it's just at the redline (not 100% sure, was paying more attention to the road than the tach, haha). Also, the rev limiter doesn't bounce like a Honda, it just gently cuts off your power.

I'm also somewhat frustrated by how hard it is to lose rpms when shifting. The 2 could probably benefit from a lightweight flywheel, but that would probably kill everyday drivability somewhat. A light flywheel in a 100hp car could be tricky, lol.

I like it... It's not as big as the Honda Fit. but that can be easily overlooked...

    Great video!

Are you running a factory exhaust system? Your car sounds awesome!

A good friend of mine just bought one of these in Aquatic Blue Mica with an automatic transmission. I love the way her's drives so much that I am thinking about buying one with a manual transmission myself, much like yours (same color and everything).

Mazda 2 is such a blast to drive!
