This custom made ceramic drum is a piece of art. It has a tight goat skin head that is heat-tunable and extremely versatile. Play the drum in your lap or by holding it with one hand and striking it with the other. Because the ceramic is stoneware, meaning it was fired at 2200 degrees, it is very very hard and extremely resonant - it reflects the sound coming from the drum head better than most wood. As a result, for it's size, this drum is very loud, as loud as much larger wooden drums. Play it with your fingers, slap it, or flick it, you get clear high and low end. This instrument covers a wide range of timbres and offers many musical possibilities. Extremely fun to play, it is very responsive to the touch. Finished with a iron red and white glass, this instrument is rock solid and functional both as a musical instrument and a piece of visual art. E-mail me for information on an optional piezo electric microphone system.
The drum weighs 5 lbs, and is 12 inches wide, 3 inches deep.
