It seems that you have got the word "gay" all wrong and out of context.

The word Gay has been used since the 12th century. For most of its life in English (and in French: gai) the word's primary meaning was "joyful", "carefree", "bright and showy". Nearly every American (and many foreigners now, as well) between the ages of 8 and 30 (and many older) are using the term "gay" several hundred times a day to describe what they despise. I'm glad to hear that you believe it means what is silly and shallow and pertaining ot that all-important world of runway fashion, but we''ve got a long way to go. Don't be passive-aggressive and label people "afraid" who object to calling something "gay" that isn't necessarily gay.
