DHHIG President announcement

Hello all!
After months of hard work and sweat preparing for the NTC, the time has flown! The new era is here. The members have selected five new officers to serve 2-year terms beginning immediately after NTC. They are: Steve Gagnon -- President, Nick Pezzarossi -- Vice President, and three members-at-large who are Christopher Kearney, Nick Vera and Mark McKay. The remaining four vacancies have been filled in -- Kerrie Peterson who will serve as the recording secretary; Christopher Brown as the corresponding secretary; and two BML's -- Kisha Cave and Adrienne Thal. Felece Steele will remain as DHHIG's treasurer.
The Board has had its first retreat and has developed a strategic plan to meet the three goals established by Nick Pezzarossi and I. The goals are: outreach, equal access for all, and more hiring and promoting for all deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the government. We discussed many different options of strategies to meet these goals and established several committees. First committee is the Membership -- chaired by Christopher Kearney, Public Policy and Advocacy -- Adrienne Thal, Development -- Mark McKay, By-Laws -- Earl Allen, Governance -- Bruce Harris, Holiday Luncheon -- Kisha Cave, and the monthly Brown Bag Lunch Sessions by Kerrie Peterson.
We also established two One Day Seminars (ODS). One will be hosted in the East and one in the West. The East will be chaired by Nick Vera and we have yet to find a volunteer to chair the West ODS. DHHIG still need more volunteers to support the three goals. If you are interested, please feel free to send us an email. The address is info@dhhig.org.
