Please watch this film. The people in it are totally unknown to me. IT COULD BE YOU !!! I believe that by showing this film some one out there may recognise themselves and come forward to offer any kind of info as to names, places, dates, etc.
This all started when I purchased an old Cine Film Projector from a car boot jumble sale.
Along with the Projector came two reels of cine film. The people in the cine film are completely unknown to me. The only Part I recognise is Blackpool sea front viewed from Blackpool Tower.
Date unknown. So Please watch, you never know it could be you ! Any info on dates, faces, names, places etc would be gratefully received, the owners may well want their original film footage back.
If so please contact me.... Regards Bevoin1970

  • The port seen at 3:40 onwards is Ostend; Oostende; in Belgium.

  • @1958IanM Crikey trawling my archives eh, with this one... ha ha - Thanks for the info Ian, I didn't know that. To date I still haven't found the original owners of this film. Im hoping one day, you never know. :-)

  • The Blackpool sequence was filmed after the 1976 footbridge was opened across the promenade, but before the new RNLI lifeboat station was opened in 1998.

It does not show the 1990 big wheel on Central Pier.

The double-deck tram still has a trolley boom instead of the pantograph of today.

I used to shoot cine film in the 1960s and had the habit of splicing old and new film on to one reel, so the other sequences could be anytime.

I think I saw the twin spires of Cologne Cathedral in there.

  • Thank you for all that very interesting info on Blackpool, very helpful indeed. Slowly all the little bits of information will eventually piece together and maybe throw up some clues on who it may be in the video. As yet no one has come forward.

Thanks for watching and being very helpful.

  • Some of this is taken in Brussels, Belgium. The church like buiding is the Grand Palace. The futuristic looking structure is the Atomium built for the 1958 Expo. It was planned to be demolished after the exhibition, but remains today as a tourist attraction. The air show maybe Blackpool air show.

  • Wow !! Thank you very much for all the info you have provided. It's very much appreciated. If only I could put dates and names to faces, never mind one day I hope. Thanks for watching and helping me out.

  • Bet you regret that now ? I know I would if I was in your shoes.

  • Maybe some day the original owners may well spot this video and contact me, who knows eh ? Would love to know the date the footage from Blackpool Tower was taken.
