This bug first appeared with the release of Windlight, in April 2008. Basically, if the user has "Atmospheric Shaders" enabled (the sexy windlight sky), then OpenGL only renders the 2 closest "point lights" to the agent.
This affects only SOME users, but seems to affect macs using ATI cards, and Windows XP using nVidia cards. Difficult to pin down.

this happens on my comp...lights 'flicking' on as you get close..
