  • Well I think he was from the Genovese repblic, but not Italian, but Greek from Chios.

  • As I show in my videos, all the claims on a non-Italian Columbus are based on lies and voluntary omissions.

Columbus ethnicity and nationality are not mysteries: there is a big ammount of documents and reliable testimonies on his origins, and all of them state, without exception, he was a Genoese, an Italian born in Liguria (Italy).

  • ITALY IS THE KING OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION!!!. VIVA ITALIA!!!!

  • @Reazzurro90 I have read evidence and theories about him being numerous different nationalities. I am simply looking at the evidence in a rational manner. My conclusion is; it is unknown where he is from. Many historians and linguists have been researching his origins. Their conclusion is that it is unknown. However, you are claiming you "know," with great certainty. My suggestion is for you to present your evidence/research to a university, maybe you will win a prize.

  • @hardassteel

    Actually no.

Christopher Columbus is hardly a great figure of Italian history. He's more of a footnote in a long line of exceptional Italians. If he were Catalan or Greek, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, because it simply wouldn't be that big of a deal. It's hardly a blow to Italian pride.

Exactly how many historians reject the Genoese hypothesis? And what proof do they have that Saverio didn't already crush?

  • @Reazzurro90 Saying that the documents are "crystal clear," is not evidence but a perception. He might have been Italian, but it is a matter of dispute amongst historians, nobody is certain. You are Italian, so you won't accept any other documents that contradict any evidence in favor of your stance, because you have too much pride in being Italian. This "biasness" interferes with your logic and reasoning.

  • @hardassteel

The documents must also be biased Italians because they're crystal clear.

  • @Reazzurro90 You are a biased Italian.

  • @hardassteel

Not biased Italians - countless documents. It's irrefutable.

PS: Christopher Columbus was not the first nor last Italian to live in Spain or work for the Spanish Crown.

  • You are right, nobody knows definitively where Columbus was born. Biased Italians will try to claim that he is Italian, as a prideful thing to do. Regardless, he was just a guy who sailed under the Spanish Flag.
