Hi. I shall make a video explaining this in the next few weeks but in short it is a musical instrument of the Percussion family and strongly related to Handbells. Each plate is tuned to a single note - like a Belleplate for each key on the keyboard. These are rung in your hands as demonstrated in the video.
A Belleplate consists of a special shaped piece of annodised aluminium with a plastic handle and a rubber spring and a rubber ball to act as a clapper, striking the plate to produce the tone
