I got rid of my bedbugs! And I did it without professional exterminators- it took four months of vigilance- was not easy emotionally, but I outsmarted the horrible creatures. Use plastic bags, your freezer, the oven and rubbing ALCOHOL in a spray bottle. Buy dust mite covers for your bed, bed platform and pillows and put them on immediately before you start. Wash EVERYTHING material in your entire house and dry in HOTTEST dryer- bag tightly until house is done. Spray EVERYTHING with alcohol.

Put small items in ziplock plastic bag and put in freezer for 6 hrs. Bake anything that can take heat in oven at 125 for 2 hrs. Freezing or heat kills them. Place all in tightly closed plastic bags until all in your house is DONE. Spray bottom of all furniture and in every crevice with alcohol. Stop sleeping in your bed. They will follow you where ever you decide to sleep. Pick a place to sleep with a small footing- I chose a platform chair and slept sitting up every night.

Wait until you are bitten again (that tells you they found you and are gathering under your sleep place. The next morning, flip the chair over and immediately spay the nest with alcohol. There is no easy way to clean up the soggy mess that's left. They smell so bad it can make you retch and vomit. Live bedbugs smell like Corriander, but dead ones smell like rotten used tampax. Pick up mess with paper towels and seal it plastic bags. Try not to squash them as that brings the disgusting smell.

Go back to sleeping in your bed but keep big spray bottle of alcohol near you at all times. sleep with bright lights on. If a stray one finds you be ready to jump up and spray or put it in a jar alive. If no bites after 10 days, wait 2 months (that's how long eggs take to hatch out to biting stage). if no bites after 2 months, take everything out of bags and regain your house. It's not easy, but if methodically outsmart them you CAN get rid of them.
