I thought this would make a fitting end to what was suppose to be "fun." Donizetti's La Fille du Regiment is such a fun opera, this aria is tailor made for the sparkling coloratura's I have put together. Again a score of 1-5 for singing/characterization:
Joan Sutherland - 1964
Edita Gruberova - 1999
Sumi Jo - 2007
Mady Mesple - 1972
Eva Lind - 1997
Maria Jose Moreno - 2002
Beverly Sills - 1974
Giusy Devinu - 1992
Valeria Esposito - 1999
Patrizia Ciofi - 2005
Natalie Dessay - 2007
Ruth Welting - 1983
June Anderson - 1986
Eva Mei - 2004
Mariella Devia - 1996
I usually don't put in my own opinon but here is a hint: my favorite is not who you think.
Her coloratura is almost perfet, her voice beautiful and is a great actress. Is one of the most well posisionated sopranos of the moment and follow the ways of Callas. jfsanin

Siamo giunti all'ultimo atto, il melodramma è agonizzante, ormai siamo alla farsa!

I didn't realize that this was drag role. And I don't mean that in a good way. I don't want to watch anyone, male or female, work that hard to sing, or open their mouth quite that wide. She looks like it's Fleet Week and she's about to entertain the entire fleet.

At least it wasn't boring. I think her character choices would have come across better live without a camera in her face. Much better energy than Mei in the same production. Also I enjoyed her voice. 4/4

I think the characterization is too serious. It should be light and carefree IMO. Boring overall by comparison. 3/2

This production looks so dull and everything is taken too seriously. The singing is okay, but she sounds like she's working too hard - it should be effortless, and she looks like she's in pain. Hmmm 3/2

Another one producing more air than tone. 2/3

I never get used to the facial expressions of the annorectic ms. Ciofi, nevertheless she sings nice, but not exeptional.
PS. The true star in this production is the tenor Juan Diego Flórez.

As others have stated, the singing is quite good but the acting and facial expressions are disturbing and incongruous. She could share a room with Dessay. 4.5/3
