Chris Webb climbing Wheel of life in the Hollow Mountain Cave of the Grampians, Australia. This is a V16 boulder put up by Koyamada Dai of japan. This boulder problem is 60 moves long and is more of a route than anything else. Dai Koyamada suggested a V16 or 5.15a rating for the link up.

I think V16 is a pretty legit grade for this. And as far as giving it a sport grade, there's not a single bolt, on the problem... It's not a route. It's a boulder problem. I hate how Fred Rouhlin'sg Akira is "9b" but, like i said, he there's not a single bolt on that line... so HOW can it even be considered a route? much less a 9b.

Once again your hovering on a gray area here. The fly was graded as a route but it barely consisted of Ten moves and it only has 1 bolt on it (and has been bouldered). Deep water solo's are graded as routes and they contain no bolts.

Just to clarify even further all this grading confusion, Dai did give it a route grading as well (It's in the video description). There will always be a gray area in which people will argue over how long a boulder can be before it becomes a route. Recently, I had the opportunity to try Lucid Dreaming (even though I boulder v5 max) and the crux pinch move defines the original grading concept of the single hardest move on the problem.

Ahh, the good old grading controversial. How about this... only people who can climb the route can rate it. Well that probably eliminates 99% of the people on here, including me.

I counted over 100 moves (including footwork but not including shaking out forearm pump). Chris is a machine (",?

If it is a boulder... it gets a boulder grade.

I can't climb V16 but I "know" this much, the first V16 problems ever were just established 2 years ago with Lucid Dreaming and The Game. Since this video was posted 5 years ago, fair bet that this hasn't been graded at a V16. Either way it's one helluva a problem that I'd need at least 10 forms of mechanical pumps and pulleys to get me through lol

Well said! F the grade, who are we to judge? Climb is stout, yep a problem not a route. Come on people, did he just "free" a route? Could it be more obvious? Looking at you grey-minded people.Year removed for good measure.

the problem looks hard, but the tunes must make it harder by at least a grade!

If this is V16 (and I have no reason to believe it isn't), there will soon be people climbing V17, V18 and maybe even more. There will be a great and exciting future in the climbing world! :-)
