So far, Obama has provided BILLIONS of financial support for science initiatives including increased funding to NASA (not to mention funding for stem-cell research, green technology etc). It was huge (according to new scientist).
Yah, I hope we get off this rock soon. We've done it before and should do it again.

As a point of interest, I included the kepler launch in my "tribute to human advancement" video. It deserves it.

nearest galaxy with humanlike inteligent life is, unfortunatelly, NGC 300 - far around 7 Mly from here,
then also M82, NGC 5128 and NGC 4395

I know what Kepler's mission is but someone said NASA has a moon landing scheduled for July, 19 2019.
