Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT - Error code 43

Having major problems with my gfx card. Not made any changes to my setup to cause this. I get artifacts during startup which never seem to go away. I can however use the computer as normal, once it has booted up despite it setting the resolution to 800x600. I have had the same setup for over 2 years so please don't try telling me its a compatability issue.

When i click on the GFX card under device manager it says "Code 43: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems"

Any ideas?

I'll be honest guys; I gave up with this when I had an email from Nvidia telling me it was terminal (I don't give up easily). Bought a GTX 460 instead which is running fine.

Have you checked in msconfig.exe and in "boot" --> Advanced options...

is there "PCI Lock" marked?

Remove it, tried to use it, then it said code 43... Then I removed it again, then it worked for me again! try that

I had this same problem on my 8800 GT Alpha Dog Edition of 512 mb and Hera the card was overheating the solution is to go through a heat gun or Hem GPU graphics chip in about 15 minutes and problem solved another is the method of oven but do not recommend it luck and greetings from Venezuela

*I have the same error (error code 43) but on my gtx 295 ... I'm about to give up and go buy a 580.
