Some folks have trouble mixing NaOH into methanol, here is the easy way to do it.

I've added 1200grams of NaOH to 20 litres of methanol, tightened the lid with a pair of big grips and then just rolled the drum up and down the drive a few times for easy methoxide mixing.

cool spence a bigger stainless version.

    cheers

  • A car passing by could be dangerous!

  • For methoxide mixing I used a 15 gallon stainless steel beer keg modified to hold a pipe cap for a plug. After the addition of all the contents, I'd just roll it back and forth with my foot for 5 minutes to get all the KOH into solution.
