Israeli Ministry of Immigrant Absorption Ad.
"An ad showing a young girl on her mother's lap, video-chatting with her grandparents, who live in Israel, has been pulled following severe criticism.
When the Jewish grandmother asks the child what holiday it is, she replies 'Christmas!' instead of Hanukkah and the joy drains from the grandparents' disappointed faces.
The Hebrew-language spot, titled, 'It's time to return to Israel before Hanukkah becomes Christmas,' was removed from the Israeli Ministry of Immigrant Absorption's YouTube channel Friday after it unleashed a storm criticism from many Jews.
Michael Oren, Israel's ambassador to the United States, said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted that the ad, and others like it, be taken down.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been sponsoring adverts that warn his people that they can 'lose their national identities' if they tie the knot with foreigners with the same faith.
In one ad Israel warns expatriates not to marry Jewish Americans amid claims its government thinks U.S. Jews are not religious enough.
The campaign is ostensibly aimed at attracting Israelis back to their homeland by making them feel guilty about staying in the U.S."
