In repsonse to a lot of folks that are bashing you - I was commisioned to create an official music video for a band. But on completion, I had the same problem. Sorted now, finally, but absolutely ridiculous that there were powers outside the artists and label preventing people from showcasing their work. And now that the track and video has been cleared, its been ruined by pop up adverts.
Fortunately, I also run an account on Vimeo so I dont have to rely on youtube for showcasing my work.

I agree with what your saying on here. But as its not an official video, its still copywrite infringement. It sucks, but its the law and has to be expected, no matter how stupid that is. The animation is really good, cant you find another piece of music that would fit? Or distort the original enough to bypass youtube restrictions?.

@ratwulf19 To be a classical musician is not even a credential for knowing what good music is... Don't even flaunt this way of life with such disrespect! By the way, I'm a classical musician, too, and I fucking love Debussy AND Bjork. Sit the fuck down
-
--Youtube pulled videos off due to copyright even before Google bought it. It just became a bigger thing after it did. But hey, you're still using it so...

I couldn't be more simpathetic! Youtube has decided to shift its focus from the users to the companies with their ludicrous and outdated copyright rules.. Well, it should be punished with oblivion. Another site should rise and replace it, so they learn. Do they really thing that without videos online they would sell more albums? Quite the opposite, they are just pathetic.
Napster gave in and disappeared, youtube deserves the same fate.

i sense PSYOPS, music is art not a product to be thrown around, it should be free not OWNED by rich people and leased out under certain conditions, censorship and profit obscure art, fuck the owners, fuck the companies, without them music would still exist, and i don't care much for opportunistic middle men. For some reason alot of people liked your comments, i suppose hand me down opinions and ignorance are popular, anyway i hope you have a nice day

You are a fucking asshole, stop deasing us with your hypocrite shit please, we dont care that bulshit abut youtube, and PD: LEAVE BJORK ALONE(SHE IS MUCH BETTER THAN DEBUSSY AND I AM A CLASSICAL MUSICIAN I KNOW ABOUT THOSE THINGS)
-
LAME!

I think the tone of this conversation is a touch unduly vehement, but it is still copyright infringement. If you shared something with others in your home, no. When you share on a grand scale where millions can experience it, then yes. What if Bjork's upcoming album sold only ten thousand, but five million people had it? Copyright infringement!
-
@musicvideoness You're using Bjork's music to forward your own work. That is exactly what the big wigs do, just on a larger and powerful scale. It seems innocent when a nobody like you and I do it, but isn't it still infringement?

So you attach your crappy animation to Bjork's name/work and then you have the nerve to whine about copyright and advertising? Hypocrite leech...

@modifiedcontent Hmm. If you have the time and, you know, can, please have a go at explaining how exactly 'hypocrite leech' applies.

@musicvideoness ("please have a go at explaining how exactly 'hypocrite leech' applies") Noone would watch your crappy animation if you posted it under your own name and title. You are exploiting Bjork's name and reputation on a free, advertising-supported service to get an audience for your "work" and then you complain about copyright and advertising? Don't you see the hypocrisy in that?

@modifiedcontent No. I disagree with the slant you put on it, but either way, that's not hypocrisy, is it? It'd be hypocritical if, say, I worked in the Short-Sighted Idiot Department at Sony and was throwing around DMCA takedowns at fan-made music vids. (NB. I'm not doing that.)

On the other hand, you could not interrupt the first 35" of your own fucking artwork with annoying annotations and allow us to quickly remove the now-standard youtube advertisement as we are used to doing. People who follow these ads maintain a right to do so, regardless of whether you or I would.

If only there was a way for you to turn off the annotations as well, eh?
