Elemental: War of Magic beta 1 gameplay

This is footage from an early beta of Elemental. At this point, the pretty 3D graphics are disabled, much of the game remainds unimplemented (including the optional "tactical" battles), and there are a ton of bugs to find, including many crashes. If you notice that the video ends after I click the next turn button, that's because the game crashed on me! Despite the early stage of development, with the beta released yesterday and the final game not due out until early 2010, the potential quality of the title shines through.

how big was the download?

I don't recall exactly; my install is 648 MB. I think the download was either 250 or 500 MB. Either way, pretty small for a game, but I'm sure the download size will increase as more content is added.

I don't get it, what is that meant to be? Is there actual graphics or do you just play on a big blank canvass?

Haha, I love the tolkienesque cloth map. The game has huge potential, I just hope that they don't limit your power too badly. In Master of Magic you could basically sit in your fortress and blast your enemies with spells all day. Listen to this; Death Wish, ALL enemy units on BOTH planes must resist or DIE. PERIOD. So just hoping we don't get limited.

The game has huge potential. Unfortunately early 2010 is not going to happen anymore.
