  • Dc I read your blog and you have been very helpful I will be picking my motoactv up in a couple days thanks to your reviews. The one thing I would like to know is what headset I should go with for the heart rate monitoring? I don't care if they are wired or not I just don't want to break the bank in doing so.

    Thanks

  • @NightWolf505a Hi Night - Unfortunately the headsets for heart rate monitoring have been canned. Kinda a bummer - never released. Your best bet is one of the heart rate straps. Personally I love the new Wahoo Sports BlueHR, but then it limits you a bit on using other ANT+ devices. So instead I'd just go with any of the Garmin ANT+ straps.

  • Is this the factory standard waterproofing, or has some additional process or coating been applied?

I'm interested in using this device for swimming as it can now he rooted and Google Music can be installed. Intending to use with waterproof Bluetooth stereo headphones.

  • @rickhuizinga This is factory, but I definitely wouldn't swim with it. I talked with the product group about it, and they definitely recommended against immersion (otherwise I would have done it). So swimming would probably kill it in a few mins. Sorry!

  • Does this work with other android devices or is it strictly motorola?

  • @tcleland104 Strickly Motorola at the moment.

  • @dcrainmakerblog Actually, let me corect that. Strickly 'officially' Motorola, though you can find a few ways around it pretty easily...

  • @rickhuizinga What is your plan to use for swimming, i'm also looking at similar solutions. I am currently using an h2audio case and an ipod shuffle. A bit simple for only 4gb.

  • Thanks dc I picked up my actv Monday and am loving it so far. I got a "new balance" heart rate thing, and no thanks to best buy I had to find out the hard way its not what I needed. I think I'm going to return it and check out the Garmin.

    Thanks again

  • I had the same problem with the ipod nano. Killed two of those in two weeks.... i was really hoping this would be better.... There is a very bright light on the upper right of the watch on continuously, but the screen wont turn on, and no other buttons seems to work. I've tried suction any water from the watch, but no luck getting it to recover.

  • sorry, just wore mine in the shower for five minutes, and it is now toast! they say on website USB cover must be closed, but the USB cover is very flimsy.
