Odeon 85001-A "Bummel Petrus" Intermezzo (Wer ner-Kersten) Künstlerkapelle Albert Dajos, Berlin; German - Orchestra. Played on my VV-VIa.

My reference materials do not cover this series; any information would be most appreciated. I believe this to date from the mid 1920's.

Nov.26, 08,
From Formiggini:
"Albert Dajos is an English pseudonym for the great danceband leader of the 20's in Germany DAJOS BELA. (I have records by him on my channel:) He had been also the "houseband" of the Lindström group in Berlin. To Lindström belongs Labels like Beka, Parlophon and Odeon. The manager of the Okeh records was an former Lindström employee, so they had an exchange with each other. Okeh records appared in Germany on Lindström records. "Bummel Petrus" is recorded late 1922 or early 1923."

Thank you!

  • Formiggini, Danke schön. I will add the information to the descriptive. I hope you enjoyed the clip.

    Regards, J.

  • I found this recording on the net at Phono Schop. It appears to be of Swiss origin. The Composers are Hermann.Frey & Werner Max.Kersten. This information from André Rieu's CDAlbum 'Serenata' . It's a delightful piece and as folk music can be of uncertain actual date. Kind regards, Mildred

  • Mildred, Thank so very much! I do hope you enjoyed it as well. Regards, John

  • Bummel-Petrus was a hit of 1920 with music by Max Werner-Kersten and Text by Hermann Frey published by Otto Wrede,Neukölln. In Germany Dajos Bela's records were released under the name of Sandor Józsi on the Odeon label. I would go for a year earlier than suggested at 1921 and one of Dajos Bela's first recordings.

  • Had this piano roll as a child- now found the memory again THANK YOU!

  • Interssante Version. Die kenn' ich noch gar nciht.

  • It's a great song. Many thanks for this video.

  • This was turned into a pop song (to its detriment) by Mitch Miller in the 1950's and titled "Wooden Shoes and Happy Hearts".
