@darkuser999 I'm an American and it is bizzare that the people of my nation are so hung up on not being able to accept scientific fact!! It makes me want to pull my hair out.

Well Goddamn.! This makes more sense then the religion I was taught when i was just a child.

@GuacamoleKun have you read Sean Caroll's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful"? If your interested in that kind of stuff it would be a good read. From my understanding, the answer to your question is this: The gene they are talking about in the vide0 is responsible for the command to build an eye, possibly also where to build an eye. However other genes determine what kind of eye is built.

Waaaaiiittttttttt, explain how the fruit fly eye grew from the mouse gene! That was really cool, I wanna hear more about that. What made it turn out different?? There are so not enough TV programs about evolution. D:

@darkuser999 It is in relation to the topic at hand. From the beginning of the study of evolution it has been plagued with controversy in relation to the church. This show is as much a history of the study of evolution, as it is the actual study of evolution.

The stooping ape-man is kind of an anachronism. Even Lucy was fully erect.

Those of us who understand the factuality of evolution, have no need of showing these idiots how, why or that it occurred....It's a matter of natural selection...There children will, or will not be taught the way the world actually works...If they are taught that Jesus will come back from heaven to save them/burn us, then they are less likely to be successful, therefor giving our children an evolutionary advantage..
This is now my position, I'm sick of explaining.
I draw pictures of the prophet

the fly developed mouse eyes!!!!

@RaidenGaid Yo do realize that all you're doing is sounding stupid right ? all your proving is that you really have no intelligent arguments at all so you just tell me to burn in hell and worship my space god. i guess that's how christians argue though. fingers in their ears singing LaLaLa, i love Jesus!
DNA is not irreducibly complex. You should try to understand what you are talking about.
It is information, and it is limited, therefore it is reducible.
If there was this much evidence of any religion being correct, then they wouldnt have to convince anyone to believe.
I am guessing you are hinting that some fella (you can call him god) just decided that now is a good time to start a universe?
Might be good enough for you, but that seems like a cop out to me.

I agree that science shows have to be made accessible to the wider public, but i really am getting tired of all this mention of creationism. To a brit like me, it's an aberration. It's bizarre and has no place in science. It doesn't even deserve mention. This is what a lot of Americans don't seem to get....
