In the mid-90's, the video game industry was moving from the sprite-based games into the 3-D / texture-mapping relm. The graphic content was becoming so well-defined it was believed in the media and abroad games were teaching kids how to harm one another. This resulted in certain games that depicted graphic violence being pulled from arcade amusement centers.

  • no sound???

  • @shadowheart43 - That's strange. There used to be sound. I still have the original VHS tape which this clip came from. I'll have to replace the clip. Sorry about that.

  • Yeah man, let me tell you. I'm totally gonna go around the streets doing Hadouken's and Shoryuken's on people after playing Street fighter. And ya know something else? I'm probably gonna rip someones spinal cord out with my own hands and an ominous low voice will say FATALITY.

Hopefully that will get me to the high score on this game called America's Most Wanted.

  • "Let's ban all bloody games in existence even though we've never played a video game! We have a degree to disguise us, so we'll look 'official'! If people argue us, we'll whip out a shiny badge and sick a bodyguard on them! Now... Where to start... AH-HA! Virtual Fighter.. We'll start low and destroy games altogether!"

Sometimes I think thats literally what they do.... Seriously.

  • and what did this tech america nothing why we just dont care

  • good... while you're at it, tell kids the dangers of cops and robbers while they're playing. or even... cowboys and indians... they teach kids intolerance of other cultures and teaches how to us a gun

  • im just glad old people are starting to die off and get out of the spotlight and more rational adults that grew up with games understand games, movies, music and other artforms are just expressions of the artist...not murder trainers.

  • @MegaPacman25

Blame the stupid media for wanting a dumb, uninteresting news "story". It's their job, after all.

  • @FoxifiedNutjob hahaha nice one

  • These news erpoters should really look into the shit before saying anything about it. They seriously think Robots or ice ninjas or Drunken Old men in video games are going to cause people to kill others in real life/ How about teaching your kids the right way of doing things its called "Being raised the right way" stupid news reporters. I played MK all the time in Arcades

  • Pussies

  • virtua fighter? I have had plastic lightsaber duels more violent than that game.

  • if they banned video games they should ban ads for the military because every time i see one i those i want to go fight for my country o but that's OK don't kill our people kill the the "bad guy"s p o l e a s e!!

  • You ban video games they go underground and fall into the hands of genuine criminals. To be honest I'd be more concerned with figuring out how to get rid of Gang Members who are hanging out at the Arcade then in banning four video games because of violence, the Gang Members are the real danger not the video games
