Professor Jackson gave this talk on July 8, 2009 at the Queens Museum of Art. Jackson and the other panelists are seated on "Panorama of the City of New York," the museums 9,335 sq. ft. model of the city, which has been temporarily repurposed as a map of the approximately 13,000 foreclosures of 1‐4 family homes filed in New York City during 2008. Jackson, director of the Herbert H. Lehman Center for American History at Columbia University, best known for his work as an urban historian, is the author of Crabgrass Frontier: the Suburbanization of the United States.
