  • OK, Bing, you forced me to ask.

As the ending credits roll by, we hear a version of the song in a minor key. What's the deal? How come that was not part of the instruction? Can you post an addendum (podcast 5+) that explains the minor version? Would a capo on the 1st fret create that sound?

  • Good catch!

I had intended to teach the tune in Em as well, but ran out of my ten minutes. Yes, capo at first fret and follow the pattern - you'll get that spooky version of "Hangman's Reel."

  • Okay, I've watched this clip about 400 times and learned the song, but I'm looking for other Dulcimerica videos that teach the song you're playing. I've looked and looked, but so far, no luck. Any suggestions on your podcasts or anyone else's that teach songs?

  • Hopefully you've had a chance to peruse some of the other videos - quite a few teach tunes in detail!

  • Is this in DAD tuning or DAA or another. So far, as a rank beginner I've only used DAA. Thanks for posting the lesson!

  • It's in DAD tuning. My pleasure!

  • I just discovered your podcasts on YouTube - what a fantastic service for the dulcimer community and music. You're an excellent teacher and musician - it is a joy listening to you play. Thanks for sharing what you do & love with the world.

  • I've only been watching your podcasts and videos for a day or so now and I already feel like I've learned tons about the instrument and its capabilities! You're very personable and easy to watch--thanks so much for putting out these videos. I'm definitely hoping to get a dulcimer at some point and come back to your videos to learn more. What should I look out for in trying to find a good instrument? What differences are there? Is this a topic you've covered in a previous podcast? Thanks!!

  • Cool. Once I master the song in D major key, I'll work on the Em version. Then I'll have something to play for Halloween.

Thanks once again for all your dulcimer insight.

  • It is in DAA, but I HIGHLY reccomend you go up to DAD ASAP!

  • You're welcome - glad to help!

  • Wow thank you
